Fibroid embolisation shrinks fibroids by cutting their blood supply — the uterus stays.
Fibroids are non-cancerous growths of the uterus that can cause heavy periods, pain and pressure. Uterine fibroid embolisation (UFE) treats them without surgery: the arteries feeding the fibroids are blocked from inside, the fibroids shrink, and the uterus is preserved.
Ultrasound or MRI confirms the size and position of the fibroids and whether embolisation is right for you.
Through a 2 mm entry at the wrist or groin, under local anesthesia.
A microcatheter reaches the uterine arteries and tiny particles block the fibroids' blood supply. The uterus keeps its normal supply.
Starved of blood, fibroids shrink over the following weeks and symptoms settle.
Hysterectomy removes the uterus surgically. Embolisation keeps the uterus, avoids general anesthesia and major surgery, and has a much shorter recovery.
Cramping for the first 24–48 hours is expected and is controlled with medication. It settles quickly.
Many women have conceived after UFE, but if future pregnancy is your main priority we will discuss all options honestly at consultation — the right choice depends on your case.
Bring your scans and reports, or send them on WhatsApp first. One consultation answers most of your questions.
